§ 2-221. Failure to appear or pay fines; penalty.

A person served with a municipal civil infraction citation, as provided in chapter 87 of the Revised Judicature Act of 1961 (MCL 600.8701 et seq.), who fails to appear within the time specified in the citation or, at the time specified in the citation or at the time scheduled for a hearing or appearance, who fails to pay a fine as established by the district court, is guilty of a misdemeanor. Failure to appear will also result in the entry of a default judgment on the municipal civil infraction.
